STOP! Everything you have been told about paying for college
is just flat out wrong!

By now, you’re probably concerned, nervous, or down right scared as to how you and your child will pay for college. You are not alone and you should not be surprised; because what you have been told about paying for college is frankly impossible. You are taking on what is often the largest purchase any family will make… a college education. The sticker price of a 4 year college education ranges anywhere from $60,000 to over $200,000. Staggering, but there is good news!

The good news is if you do your homework virtually no one pays sticker price for college. If you’re the parent of a high school student, you need to get familiar with this website. It is no exaggeration to say it could save you thousands upon thousands of dollars.

The most powerful tool on this site is Scott Anderson’s guide to college funding… STOP! Everything You Thought You Knew About Paying For College Is Wrong!

So why are so many families paying through the nose for college? It’s really pretty simple. It’s called “common knowledge”. Most mistakes are made because too many families receive “common knowledge” advice from the wrong sources, and all too often, that “common knowledge” is dead wrong. It’s generic…it’s outdated…it’s simply not factual. Which leads to the first and most important premise:

Advice Based On “Common Knowledge” Is Absolute Garbage!
Whether it comes from guidance counselors…your accountant or investment advisor… college admissions departments… or well-meaning friends who have “been there”… it’s probably wrong. Most of those “advisors” either don’t know any better or they’re telling you what they want you to hear because it suits their purpose.

For example:

  • ”Common knowledge” usually encourages you to apply for scholarships… but scholarships actually COST you money, dollar for dollar.
  • “Common knowledge” almost always suggests that state schools are less expensive… but some private colleges offer incredible bargains as well as first rate educations.
  • “Common knowledge” typically recommends that you save for a child’s education by using 529 plans…but 529 plans can COST your students thousands of dollars in aid and assistance funds from the college.
  • “Common knowledge” says you have to save at least $60,000 for each of your children when we all know that for 95% of Americans, that’s impossible.

And that just scratches the surface. “Common knowledge” is an enormous culprit which has been responsible for an untold number of families making staggeringly expensive mistakes. No wonder so many families of college students feel like victims.

Here’s a real life case in point:
Recently, Scott Anderson met with a family which had all but decided to send its daughter to a state university because they had been told that would be their most affordable option. They just weren’t sure which one. Then they were presented with the truth.

Their first pick of a state school was the University of Iowa. They would likely spend more than $20,000 per year to send their daughter there. Their second pick of a state school was Northern Illinois University, where they would likely spend more $6,000 per year.

Then they were shown two private universities they had not considered: Augustana
College and Lake Forest College. Both of these schools have stellar reputations. In fact, Augustana has recently been highlighted in USA Today because of the many corporate CEO's it has produced. At either of these two private colleges, the family would likely save a bundle by spending less than $4,000 per year. A look of shock came on their faces.
With a hint of anger in her voice, the mother said, "Do you know this is the exact opposite of what the people at her high school told us?"

OK. If “Common Knowledge” is the problem, what’s the solution? It’s simple. It is time to learn the truth about how the college funding system actually works. It’s time to dump the common knowledge.

You do not have to be taken to the cleaners by the “common knowledge”. Forget about the scholarship scams. Forget about saving $60,000 in the next year. Forget about putting yourself in hock or bankrupting your retirement. Get the guide to how the system really works.
